Should You Watch It?
Watch it if you like tournament arcs at all. It is the festival’s popcorn episode: forfeits, fusion fumbles, Diablo getting offended by Gaiye’s personality. Skip only if combat-as-comedy bores you; you will miss why Gobta is Elite Four. Not deep, very fun, still political underneath the bracket.

House rules
Earlier, Rimuru plans the tournament. Shion, Diablo, and Benimaru are Elite Four and banned from entering because they would delete the bracket. Winner gets the fourth Elite Four seat or a shot at Rimuru. Masayuki, Jinrai, Gaiye, the Bovoid and Equinoid leaders, and Lion Mask (Carrion in a mask, obviously) clear prelims. Gobta and Geld sign up. Rimuru promises to fight the champion. Sports as foreign policy: the scary people are referees.
Forfeits and a wolf
Bovoid beats Equinoid. Masayuki versus Jinrai ends in a forfeit so the hero advances. Gaiye talks down to Gobta, which offends Diablo personally. Gaiye stomps until Gobta wins with Ranga. Geld versus Lion Mask: Carrion wins, Geld takes it like a professional. The bracket is already a mix of real fights and crowd magic. Masayuki’s skill is working in public, which is funnier if you watched Episode 17.
Semis on vibes
Masayuki’s speech makes the Bovoid leader forfeit and take it to the dungeon later. Lion Mask versus Gobta: Carrion has the edge until Gobta, Rimuru, and Ranga socially engineer a forfeit. It is cheating-adjacent and very Tempest. The final is Gobta versus Masayuki, then they pause until tomorrow and eat. Rimuru starts dreading that matchup. Gazel wants a word. The sport is the A-plot. Every forfeit is Masayuki’s fame skill plus Rimuru protecting the guest experience. Gobta winning ugly is the underdog the city needs. Carrion in a mask is a Demon-Lord-adjacent guest letting Tempest look strong without a real Octagram incident. Gaiye exists to be hated. The tournament is a commercial. It is also a pressure valve for every warrior who came to pick a fight with a slime.
Sleep on a final
They delay the final like a network TV special. Rimuru’s worry is correct: a hero-versus-goblin final is a PR bomb either way. Gazel’s visit is the adult plot returning. Episode 21 is the fun. Episode 22 has to pay the ledger and the forfeit.

Carrion/Lion Mask is the ringer having fun. Geld is the honorable loss. Gaiye is the heel. Jinrai is the friend who takes a dive. Diablo, Shion, Benimaru are the banned gods in the stands. Gazel Dwargo is the next episode walking in early. Bovoid/Equinoid leaders are the tribal subplot getting a sports ending.

A founding festival can run a continental martial-arts circuit. Elite Four is a formal Tempest rank, not a joke title. Hero charisma can end matches without a punch.
