Should You Watch It?
Watch it as the two-front payoff of Episodes 6–8. Diablo versus Battlesages is the fun half; Hinata dying in the dirt is the mean half. Skip only if you already know the Luminaries get exposed next week. Not a beginner entry. If you like Diablo being unfair, this is his showcase.

Story Recap
Damrada reads the room
In Falmuth, Damrada studies Rimuru, Edmaris, and Edward, then prepares to leave because the “Reyhiem-killing demon” is above his pay grade. Edward still wants to hit Youm’s hometown with Three Battlesages as backup. The Battlesages also want the murderer. Everyone is pointing at Diablo for a crime the Luminaries committed. The merchant’s exit is the Rosso network cutting losses while the Church kids keep the riot going.
Hakurou on crowd control
Diablo watches from the sky, peels one Battlesage off with the army, and sends Hakurou to beat that army without a slaughter. Edward’s force folds and retreats. Diablo boxes Edward and two Battlesages in a forcefield so civilians do not become splash damage. He asks for peace with Youm. Edward refuses, clutching Glenda’s planted story. Diablo then does Diablo: he dismantles Damrada’s men, scares the soldiers and Edward off, and leaves the Battlesages to learn what a primordial looks like when he is bored.
Glenda runs, the sky cracks
The remaining Battlesage starts to believe Diablo is innocent. Glenda runs. Three Luminaries arrive and attack the forcefield to kill witnesses. That is the episode saying the cover-up is now more important than the war. Falmuth was never the point. Erasing the people who could testify is the point. Diablo’s barrier becomes the last wall between a public record and a holy shredder.
Hinata’s clock
Back on Rimuru’s field, Hinata is wrecked by the Dragon Buster. Rimuru cannot heal her; she needs holy magic. Two Luminaries show up, bind the four Saints so they cannot heal their own champion, and announce they will destroy Hinata for disobedience. The “scheming” in the title is not metaphor. It is a public execution scheduled two minutes after a duel. Rimuru’s potions, Raphael, all the Tempest kit — wrong damage type. The Saints who could save her are in cuffs.
Both fronts, same authors
Falmuth and Tempest are one plot now: Luminaries closing tabs. Diablo has the civil-war witnesses in a bubble. Rimuru has a dying Saint and clergy who would rather finish her than admit the crystal was fake. Episode 9 is the villain episode the trailers owed you. Next week Luminous grades them. This week they still think they own the test.
Story Analysis
Splitting the hour between Diablo’s stomp and Hinata’s medical emergency is the right mean streak. Comedy is Edward discovering he brought a knife to a primordial. Emotion is Rimuru failing a heal for once. Mystery is over; the Luminaries are just murdering. Pacing is dual-front without feeling like two shows taped together, because the authors are the same three idiots in fancy hats.
World-building is witness-killing as Church policy, Glenda as a double agent Saint, and holy magic as a locked healer class. Hakurou’s nonlethal army work is the no-kill doctrine traveling with Diablo’s theater. The forcefield is a courtroom. The Luminaries want to burn the courthouse.

Diablo is the Falmuth lead and he is having fun, which is disturbing and on-brand. Hakurou is the professional who can beat an army without turning it into Season 2. Edward is the doomed replacement king. Glenda is the leak in the Battlesages. Damrada is the adult criminal leaving the kids to die. Rimuru is helpless in the one way that hurts: wrong magic school. Hinata is the victim of her own inventory. The bound Saints are the Church’s conscience in handcuffs. The Luminaries finally play on-screen villains instead of committee ghosts.
World Building
Falmuth’s civil war is a stage the Church can still staff with Battlesages. Planted evidence works until a primordial laughs at it. Holy magic versus Tempest healing is a hard type chart, not flavor. Forcefields can be crime-scene tape. Luminaries will kill their own Saints to protect a narrative. Merchants like Damrada treat holy wars as liquidity events they can walk away from. Youm’s hometown as a target shows how personal the succession fight still is.
Nothing here is later-arc homework. If a name or rule is only teased, it stays a tease.
Animation
Diablo’s barrier and beatdown should look cleaner than the Tempest medical panic. Hakurou versus an army is veteran-fight staging, not a new transformation. Hinata’s injury needs to look unhealable. 8bit TV action plus clergy horror. A step down from the duel’s focus, a step up in villain blocking.
