Quick update for Tanya fans: Saga of Tanya the Evil II (Youjo Senki II) premiered on July 8, 2026 — weekly Wednesdays on AT-X in Japan, with Crunchyroll streaming as it airs for a planned 12-episode Summer run through roughly September 23, 2026.

What changed

After years of waiting since the 2017 TV season (and the later theatrical bridge), Season 2 is finally on the air as a full cour. Studio NuT returns, with Takayuki Yamamoto directing the new season. Script oversight continues in the franchise’s established TV staff lane — this is a continuation season, not a reboot.

Theme songs are locked for the weekly brand: opening “Why? RED induction” by MYTH&ROID, and ending “Weiter! Weiter!” credited to Tanya Degurechaff as performed by Aoi Yūki. ANN covered the July 8 AT-X debut window, the multi-channel Japan rollout, and the theme-song / mini-anime package ahead of premiere.

What’s next / When it airs

Japan: AT-X Wednesdays at 21:30 JST (premiere July 8, 2026), with same-week slots on Tokyo MX and other local stations. Internationally, treat Crunchyroll as the weekly home unless your region lists otherwise.

Expect about 12 episodes across the Summer 2026 block — if the Wednesday cadence holds cleanly from July 8, the finale lands around September 23, 2026. Titles and spoiler-heavy beat sheets stay off this page; check Crunchyroll’s episode list as each week drops.

Where the franchise stands

Season 1 (12 episodes, Winter 2017) built Tanya’s Rhine-to-command reputation and the Being X conflict. A 2019 film continued the story for novel readers between TV cours. Season 2 is the first new weekly TV season in nearly a decade — the moment casual fans and Season 1 finishers have been waiting to schedule again.

Should you wait or rewatch?

Caught up through Season 1 (and the film if you watched it): you are the target audience. Jump into Season 2 weekly — a quick Season 1 finale refresh is enough; no full rewatch required unless you forgot Tanya’s tone.

Only halfway through Season 1: finish Season 1 first. Season 2 assumes the war board and Tanya’s career path.

Brand new: start Episode 1. Read Tanya Degurechaff explained if you want the protagonist decoded without Season 2 spoilers.
