What the anime rarely explains
These are the manga / Corps details that help Demon Slayer click faster — especially if you only remember the viral fights and skip Season 1’s wound.
Demons and the Corps are a system
- Sunlight kills demons. Night missions are not aesthetic — they are the board’s hard rule.
- Nichirin blades and breath styles are craft + lineage, not random power-ups. Season 1 teaches the job before later districts show off.
- Demon hierarchy (including Twelve Kizuki talk later) sits above random village threats. Episode 1’s local tragedy is still the emotional root.
Nezuko’s exception is the thesis
- Most demons lose humanity. Nezuko’s restraint is why Tanjiro’s kindness is strategy, not naivety.
- Giyu’s judgment in Episode 1 introduces institutional coldness — the Corps will not automatically trust a demon sibling.
- “Protect Nezuko” and “destroy Muzan’s world” are the same mission told two ways. Season 1 keeps the first one personal.
Manga context the hype skips
- Entertainment District / movie spectacle assumes Final Selection, early missions, and Natagumo attachment. Start Season 1 Episode 1.
- Family tragedy is not edge bait. It is the cost that makes every later breath form feel earned.
- Supporting slayers’ quirks (Zenitsu panic, Inosuke chaos) sit on top of real fear — Season 1 earns the comedy after the horror.
